As the breif is based around the theme parents my initial idea is to look at the likeness between children and their parents. My main inspiration for this subject is the phrase " The apple doesn't fall far from the tree " which indicates that even though we are the product of our parents we are, in effect, an image of them carrying the same traits, strengths, weaknesses etc aswell as the asthetic likeness passed on through DNA.
As a final outcome I hope to acheive a bounded book which will form the basis of the installation I would like to create as a form of presentation in the end of year show. My book will be made up of mixed media imagary (aphemera, collage, photography, hand rendored type and image, digital image, manual print work) and will be a collection of memories that contribute to suporting the hypothesis I began with.
To build my project I will collect a series of primary research which will widen my knowledge of the likeness between me and my own parents. I then will move on to secondary research to see how other designers have approached the suject of parents which will give me a better idea of how i will execute my final peice.
